The Raw Materials

KACHCHH DISTRICT is famous for its mineral wealth where Bauxite, Limestone, Gypsum, Lignite, China clay, Red Oxide, Silica, Bentonite etc, the non metallic minerals are found in abundance and with good properties for various applications.

BENTONITE in clay form is mostly composed of the mineral "Montmorillonite" mixed with some related minerals like Nontronite and Beidellite. These are three layered Aluminosilicate with molecules of water between layers. Chemically the Bentonite is of Sodium & Calcium type (also known as fuller’s earth). Among all other Bentonite available in the world, the sodium variety has high swelling and gelling properties along with good viscosity and liquid limit.

KACHCHH BENTONITE was formed millions of years ago, possibly from the volcanic ash falling in stagnant saline water in semi-arid conditions. Due to natural characteristics of these particular volcanic ashes, the chemical composition of this Bentonite is somewhat different from the Bentonite available in the rest of the world. Most of these deposits of sodium Bentonite have higher iron content which gives them darker colour. This Bentonite shows extraordinary swelling capacity and bonding powers and is found suitable for number of uses in various industries throughout the world.
